The 1.10pm Birmingham Snow Hill - Henley-in-Arden arriving at Small Heath on 21 July 1962. The Derby suburban triple set, numbered 303, has DMBS W50076 at the front, the other two vehicles are presumably trailer composite 59003 and DMS 50118. Michael Mensing.

The drivers controls of a Class 116 unit at what appears to be Small Heath South circa 1970. It is two overlapping scans from a large format negative - hence the 'missing' pieces. Note the loudaphone for driver to guard communication to the right of the drivers seat, and the WR ATC equipment displaying 'NOT IN USE' in the centre window. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Tyseley Class 16 DMU set TY500 (presumably formed of 50061 + 59000 + 50092) in Small Heath station in mid-1973. Michael Mensing.

Tyseley Class 116 DMU set TS529 has a Class 100 DMBS (which is possibly M50340) in place of the regular DMBS when seen at Small Heath on 11 June 1976. This was an up local service from Birmingham Moor Street, either the 6.33pm to Leamington or 6.40pm to Stratford-upon-Avon. Michael Mensing.

Set: TY528
As the driver opens up a cloud of thick exhaust smoke blots out the background. The leading set comprises 50062, 59028 & 50117 The train will be on the way to New Street to work a Birmingham to Kidderminster service, it has just left Tyseley Carriage sidings. The houses on the left were on Byron Road they were sturdy Victorian tunnel back houses but they fell victim to Small Heath Highway which was built to relieve traffic through Small Heath on the Coventry Road (it didn't) The houses on the right are off Armoury Road, they were owned by BSA Motorcycles and the houses could be rented by employees, sadly by this time BSA had closed and the houses would soon follow the factory into oblivion, it is now an industrial estate. The station platform may not have anywhere to sit or shelter but it certainly was well lit, the wonky gradient post remains! Image by Peter Shoesmith 21 August 1976. Class 116 DMU set TY537 (presumably 51130 closest) arriving at Small Heath with the 17:10pm Birmingham Moor Street - Henley-in-Arden service on 12 March 1977. Heading away is a six-car formation with a 101/101/100 hybrid and a refurbished Class 116. Michael Mensing.
